The BSJ Cancer Fighting Team, in Warsaw, recently donated $10,000 to the Bothwell Foundation Gene Loveall Cancer Services Fund.

According to a press release from Bothwell, the donation represents a portion of what the team has raised over the past year, through events such as a craft show in the fall and the annual Quartermania, held March 4 at the Warsaw Community Center.

“We do things all year long,” said Sharon Guess, team organizer. “We have garage sales. We do crafts. We decorate for events. We have ‘Breakfast with Santa,’ where we also make aprons and sell them.”

Other members of the BSJ Cancer Fighting Team include Jean Karst, Pam Bowling, Lucy Daniels and Pam Myrick.

The Bothwell Foundation Gene Loveall Cancer Services Fund was created to provide resources for cancer care and services in Pettis and Benton Counties. The Bothwell Foundation has used the donations to provide gas cards for cancer patients, chemo chair cushions, a new speaker system for radiation therapy, and other items for cancer patient care.

“What these ladies have accomplished is nothing short of amazing,” said James Mahlon White, vice president of the Bothwell Foundation Board of Directors. “They have done so much over the years to raise funds to support cancer causes. We appreciate their making such a generous contribution to the Bothwell Foundation and our cancer services fund.”
