Shriners Holding Annual Dave Kelley Dinner at the Shrine Club This Week

I know sometimes it can be a little strange trying to figure out just what there is to do around here.  I sometimes see people on Facebook or other social media asking, "What are you guys doing tonight?" Well, I think sometimes people forget about all the good community get-togethers around here just because they're not looking for them.

So, I thought I'd share something I got in our Community Calendar submissions this week.  The Shriners are having another great dinner this week.  You know you always see the Shriners in parades and stuff?  They're always helping out around town.  So why not stop by and help them help others while you eat some tasty food?

Five Bands You Shouldn’t Miss at the Missouri Big Ass Rock Festival

Something heavy is headed for Lincoln, Mo. in May, and BOB listeners who prefer the more rockin' end of the "whatever we want" we like to play need to check out this event.  The Missouri Big Ass Rock Festival on May 17-19 will include 25+ bands, camping and a whole lot of partying over three days at the Walters Ranch.

Some of these bands may be a little off the beaten path for you, but at $55 for three entire days of music, they are definitely worth checking out.  I've taken the liberty of featuring some of the ones you won't want to miss.

On The Road With Doug: Visit the Johnson County Fire Auxiliary Spaghetti Dinner and Auction

Before I tell you about the Johnson County Fire Auxiliary Spaghetti dinner and auction, let me tell you that I grew up in the rural areas of Knob Noster in Country Acres, and at one point, we had lightening hit our house and it caused a fire. The Knob Noster Volunteer Department came out and made sure all was okay. Ever since that moment, I realized the importance of having a good fire department around. Whether it be city owned or volunteer, I appreciate our firefighters.
