Most everyone I know has been affected in some way or another by cancer.  Whether you know someone, are related to someone, or have been through it yourself, everybody knows just how hard that can be.

For me, my mother died after a year and some change fight with ovarian, lung, and then brain cancer.  I was there with her every day, feeding her and giving her her medications, helping her with her day to day life.  I know what that's like. And that's why I hope you'll help with the Relay for Life.

They do a great deal of work every year to fight this disease, and they're going to have their Kickoff Celebration coming up this week.  They'll be at the Smith-Cotton Junior High on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  The theme this year will be "Don't Play Games with Cancer."

The actual relay isn't until later this year, but you should get your friends, co-workers, family, whoever together now and get a team ready.  You can register at the kickoff, and if you do that, you can get an early bird registration - which means a discounted entry fee.   Check it out for yourself, they usually have some good food, fun and lots of information to arm yourself with before the big event.

You can also RSVP to Sherry Jo at 660-221-5792, Twitter to @MamaJo1234, or Facebook Sherry Jo Painter-Torres.  Get started today!

Relay-ingly yours,
Behka
