Hunting

I've started my blog posts with the weather every day for the last two months.  I thought the crazy weather changes were over and done with.  I can deal with a 15-20 degree temperature change, this IS Missouri.  But come on, from the 70s to the 30s?  This is just ridiculous.

The weather is looking up and it seems like the weather roller coaster is over.  I hope they shut it down.  Well, let's start with some fishin'.  Where are they catching them?  In the water.  No really, they are.

Well, the Easter Bunny is on his way, the snow is gone for now.  I heard we could have two more snow storms, and one of them could be a whopper.  I hope not, because if it snows next week, we'll have to hunt turkeys in snow camo and snow shoes.  That won't be fun, so let's pray for no snow.

Sunday afternoon (Nov. 18), Governor Jay Nixon harvested an eight-point buck while deer hunting in Pulaski County. The Governor donated the venison to Missouri’s Share the Harvest program, a public-private partnership that provides meat to families in need.

Youth season was a success, with four out of the six kids we took out harvesting their first deer.  We still have the second youth season to go, so I'm sure we'll get them back in the woods. Last week we told you about Wounded Warrior Eric Stadler.  We'll be taking him out hunting this morning just before seven more Wounded Warriors arrive in Sedalia for the first Wounded Warrior hunt in Pettis Co

I was honored to take out one of our Wounded Warrior veterans to the range. Eric Statler is a quadriplegic whom is paralyzed from the neck down. We took him to sight in his deer rifle at the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club.

Youth deer season starts this weekend, and it's going to be awesome.  The rut is starting and even though the weather is a little warmer than I like, it's my favorite time of year to hunt.

I love this time of year, it's great for everything.  Even though youth soccer is about over, I bet those kids still wish it was going on.  My best friend's son plays, and what an awesome time it is with all of the parents, grandparents and kids outside at Clover Dell Park.  It's also great to see the support for the high school football teams on those chilly nights.  I just love being outside! The weather is cooling off nicely, the deer are moving and bow season is in full swing.  Man, I love those calm mornings sitting up in the tree stand, watching the sun come up and the woods come alive, waiting for that buck that I've been hoping would come by.
