Bow season is here and I’m lovin' the weather. I got a call this week from Harold Ray and he has something for you to win. Stop into Ray’s Custom Butchery 7 miles East of Sedalia on 50 Hwy during bow season and register to win a $100 gift certificate towards deer processing for gun season. Two certificates will be given away and I’ll get to announce the winners November 2.
Motorists may have seen a large covered wagon drawn by two horses traveling southbound on South Limit this morning (September 19). The wagon was passing though Sedalia on a journey across the country known as the Freedom Trail Ride, honoring the fallen members of the military and supporting children with disabilities.
A new report from the CDC finds that men who’ve served in the military carry a heavier health burden than civilians — in fact, veterans are significantly more likely to have two or more chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
Townsquare Media in conjunction with Casey's General Stores and Sedalia's new car dealers successfully raised $13,000 in May to support the 2012 Show-Me Honor Flight, which provides veterans a trip to Washington DC to visit war memorials for the wars they served in.
The end of the school year is here, and Memorial Day weekend is a way most get into the swing of things as a family for the summer. While most will head out to the Lake of the Ozarks, go watch a baseball game or have a family reunion or picnic, a few years ago I started a tradition with my son, and I hope to share it with the whole family.
As Americans, we owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women of our armed forces who have fought and in some cases given the ultimate sacrifice to achieve the ends of life and liberty at home and abroad. Show-Me Honor Flight is honoring those who have fought and been prepared to die by providing free transportation and meals for our veterans so they can travel to Washington D. C. to visit their war memorials.
The Show-Me Honor Flight radiothon is coming up on Tuesday, May 22 from 6 am. - 7 p.m on our stations AM 1050 KSIS, 92.3 Bob-FM and Better Country, KIX 105. The idea of this program, for those that don't know, is to send our World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam Veterans to Washington D.C.
