The Kansas City Royals have announced various activities for Retro Night at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals face the Cleveland Indians and celebrate 1974 on Saturday, August 30. As part of the festivities, both the Royals and Indians will wear throwback uniforms from the 1974 season.

Retro Night will also feature a themed pre-game concert on the Hy-Vee Stage, a live organist playing throughout the game, and other special programming including music and other trivia from 40 years ago.

I image the crowd will be huge for the retro night and a playoff drive. Let's just hope they don't end up like the 1974 Royals, who finished with a 77-85 record. The roster did include a young George Brett, Hal McRae, Frank White, John Mayberry, Dennis Leonard, Paul Splitorff and many others that really set the tone of the Royals all the way through the 80s.
