A large street resurfacing project is scheduled to begin in southeast Sedalia next week.

The City of Sedalia says in a media release the work is scheduled start Monday, August, 20, weather permitting. The area is bounded on the west by S. Massachusetts Ave., on the east by S. Ingram Ave., on the south by the City limits, and on the north by E. 24th Street.

The roadwork includes two phases.

The streets running North-South will be closed to traffic for milling and resurfacing. The City says the work requires closing the following streets and residents who routinely park along these streets or access driveways from them will need to find alternate parking along East and West running roadways for 1-2 days during the initial phase of the project.

During the initial phase, residents will need to find alternate parking until the roadway has been milled and compacted which is anticipated to take 1-2 days, according to the media release.

After completion of this initial work, residents can drive and park on the street during an approximately 30 day cure period prior to installation of the final two-inch asphalt cap.

North-South Running Streets beginning Aug. 20:
S. Washington Ave. between 24th St. and the City limits
S. Massachusetts Ave. between 24th St. and E. 28th St.
S. Lafayette Ave. between E. 24th St. and E. 28th St.

During the second week of the project, the same stipulations will apply for streets running East-West.

East-West Running Streets (anticipated to begin Aug. 27):
E. 25th St. between S. Ingram Ave. to the end of the roadway
E. 26th St. between S. Ingram Ave. to end of the roadway
E. 27th St. between S. Ingram Ave. to end of the roadway
E. 28th St. between S. Ingram Ave. to S. Massachusetts Ave.

It was noted that Street Department staff is attempting to make contact with all residents and are posting signs regarding the work zones.

The roadwork is excepted to be competed by the end of October.
