A Belton man suffered minor injuries after he struck a cow with his Chevy Silverado on Sunday evening in Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 36-year-old Belton man was driving his 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 eastbound in the 2800 block of Southwest County Road 6508 (just east of the Kansas border) around 6:15 p.m., when the Chevy struck a cow in the roadway.

The man was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by Bates County EMS for treatment of minor injuries.

The Silverado was totaled and towed from the scene.

Bates County Deputies and Rich Hill Fire personnel assisted the Patrol.
