A Blue Springs woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday night in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2015 Lincoln MKZ, driven by 35-year-old Stephanie N. Burks, of Blue Springs, was on East Pink Hill at South Slaughter Road around 8:45 p.m., when the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.

Burks was pronounced deceased on scene and transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office. Burks was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

Blue Springs Police and Jackson County Deputies assisted the Patrol.
