The Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary recently awarded three $1,500 scholarships to area students in health care.

The nursing scholarships were awarded on July 28. They were presented to Samantha Unkel and Christina Oelrich. The Bellamy Scholarship, which is named for longtime auxiliary volunteer Anna Marie Bellamy, went to Erica Kammerich.

According to a press release from BRHC, Unkel is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, while working at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Oelrich is a registered nurse at BRHC and is furthering her education at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. She hopes to become a nurse educator.

Kammerich, a radiation therapist at BRHC, is working on a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at Washburn University, in Topeka, Kansas.

The BRHC Auxiliary Scholarship Committee is made up of Sue Heckart, Peggy Curran and Chairwoman Karen Suroff, who worked as a registered nurse at BRHC for many years.

“Congratulations to our scholarship winners,” Suroff said. “The committee wishes them all the best as they continue in their health care careers. It’s our hope that each of them will return to Bothwell and continue to serve our community in the future.”
