City of Sedalia to Activate Snow Routes When Snowfall Reaches Two Inches

A weather-related statement from the City of Sedalia was issued on Thursday:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Advisory including the Sedalia area from 9:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020.

Total snow accumulation is expected to be 2 to 4 inches in the Sedalia area. Should significant snow accumulation occur, we encourage residents to remain home and limit travel until Street Department crews have an opportunity to clear roadways and the electric utilities have an opportunity to repair any downed power lines.

When snow accumulation reaches 2 inches, the City activates EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES to allow the designated roadways to be easily cleared for emergency and other vehicles. Parking is prohibited along Emergency Snow Routes as Street Department plows need access to clear and open the roadways. The Street Department will work to keep these designated streets as clear as possible.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping vehicles off Emergency Snow Routes. A map is available on the City’s website at the following link that details which city streets are designated Emergency Snow Routes as well as those designated by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).

For those who must travel during inclement winter weather conditions, you are encouraged to have an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.
