Fatal Accident on I-70 Kills Two Warrenton Children

Two Warrenton children were killed and two others were seriously injured in a five-vehicle crash in Jackson County over the holiday weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened yesterday just after 6 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70, west of Adams Dairy Parkway. 13-year-old Gavin Beaird and 7-year-old Chloe Beaird were pronounced dead at the scene. 39-year-old David Beaird and 37-year-old Jennifer Beaird suffered serious injuries and were taken by EMS for treatment.

According the The Patrol, a 2000 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 60-year-old James Green of Odessa, overtook the Beaird's vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra, and struck it in the rear. The Elantra was pushed into a 2002 Acura, which was pushed into two more vehicles.

Green was taken to Centerpoint Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.
