A fire heavily damaged a one-story residence in Sedalia Wednesday afternoon.

A call came into the Sedalia Fire Department at 2:40 p.m. about a house with smoke and flames coming out of the front of the structure at 168 Summer.

A dozen firefighters and three fire trucks arrived within three minutes of the call, according to Sedalia Battalion Chief Steve Rucker.

The fire was marked under control in 11 minutes, Rucker noted.

A Missouri State Fire Marshall arrived from Warrensburg and was on scene as of 4:30 p.m. to determine the cause of the blaze, which was blamed on faulty wiring.

No one was home at the time of the fire.
