Morgan County Sheriff Normal Dills issued a press release Monday that announced an investigation into a truck fire in which a body was found inside.

“On the night of (Thursday) March 10, a vehicle fire was reported at the Ivy Bend Land Office, 32937 Ivy Bend, in Morgan County.

The Ivy Bend Fire Department responded and found a Ford truck fully engulfed in flames.

The fire department extinguished the flames, and the vehicle was burned to the frame.

Contact was made with the Missouri State Fire Marshal's office by the Ivy Bend Fire Department for further investigation.

On the morning of (Friday) March 11, a deceased body was located in the rear seat of the truck. The body was burned beyond recognition.

An autopsy is scheduled for (Tuesday) March 15 to determine the cause of death and identification.

This is an active investigation,” said Sheriff Dills.
