Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2008 Mazda 3, driven by 28-year-old Mercedes I. Pina of Warrensburg, was merging onto US 50, one half-mile west of County Road NW 250 at 4:35 p.m., when she traveled into the path of an eastbound 2014 Ford Escape, driven by 28-year-old Emily M. Dillon of Holden.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, as well as three passengers, including 61-year-old Carlin A. Dillon, and two juveniles, ages 5 and 8.

All were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.

Johnson County deputies assisted the Patrol.
