Holden Woman Injured in JoCo Wreck
A Holden woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday morning in Johnson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2021 Chevy Silverado was traveling east on Missouri 58 just after 8 a.m., while a 2006 Chevy Impala was traveling north on County Road on SW 1001. The Silverado was behind another eastbound motorist who slowed down to turn right onto SW 1001. The driver of the Silverado, 42-year-old Crystal A. Shulte-Houx, of Holden, failed to notice the other driver slowing down and attempted to pass it on the left to avoid a collision, traveling east in the westbound lane. As the motorist completed their right turn, the Impala accelerated from a stop and began to turn left to travel west on 58. But as the Impala turned left, the Silverado's front bumper struck the driver's side of the Impala.
The Silverado slowed and came to rest in the highway in the westbound lane, facing east. The Impala began to skid, traveled off the NE side of the intersection and came to rest facing south.
The driver of the Impala, 68-year-old Joan M. Lerda of Holden, suffered minor injuries, and was transported by JCAD to Western Missouri Medical Center.
The Silverado had extensive damage, while the Impala was totaled. Both vehicles were towed.
