A Holts Summit man was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Friday in Cole County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound Kia Optima, driven by 71-year-old John F. Hannan of Holts Summit, attempted to cross US 54 at Route D around 3 p.m. Friday and pulled into the path of a westbound Chevy Tahoe, driven by 42-year-old Bryan A. Taylor of Winchester, Illinois.

The Tahoe struck the Kia and Hannan was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Jared Lammert at 3:51 p.m.

Taylor and four of his passengers, including his wife and three sons, were injured and were taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

Both vehicles had extensive damage.
