Labor Day weekend brought a new addition to the Sokolowski household. No, Diana and I did not have another kid, adopt another dog or anything like that: we got a new refrigerator. We then found out that when we bought the fridge that you don't have to wait for a sale to take place if you're a KCP&L customer because they are offering two rebates.

We found ourselves shopping at Sears in the Thompson Hill Shopping Center. The Sears staff informed us that KCP&L is offering a home appliance rebate. If you purchase an Energy Star certified refrigerator or freezer, you could get $100 back in addition to saving on the lower electricity bills. This rebate will be for purchases on Energy Star refrigerators purchased up until Dec. 31, 2013.

In addition to that, KCP&L recently announced they were also offering an Appliance Recycling Rebate. If your old fridge is in working order and still able to cool and freeze, then you can qualify for an additional rebate that could be $75. The Missouri Public Service Commission has given KCP&L approval to offer rebates in the Greater Missouri Operations Service area.

The guys at Sears were very helpful in making sure I had the proper paperwork for KCP&L, so if you have any questions, be sure to ask the employees whenever you buy a new fridge. The savings I got plus the rebates I'm expecting are going to be very welcome in our house. Sears just delivered our fridge and now we're going to send the rebate forms in.
