Ranking Says America’s Best Lasagna is Made in Missouri
I have yet to meet a casserole dish full of lasagna that I didn't like, but it's true there are some that go next level. A new national ranking says that a Missouri place is responsible for some of the best lasagna in the country and it really shouldn't come as a surprise when you consider where they're located.
There's a new ranking of lasagna from Cheapism that selected less than a dozen restaurants across the United States that make the best lasagna. Their choice for Missouri is a restaurant that was started back in 1995 by a couple of brothers. They say Trattoria Marcella in St. Louis is responsible for some of the best lasagna you'll ever taste.
Trattoria Marcella is located just blocks from The Hill at 3600 Watson Road which is as Italian as you can get in Missouri. Their lasagna was praised for being "packed with Italian sausage, ground beef, ricotta, mozzarella, béchamel, and fresh tomato".
I've tried making my own lasagna at home, but I can never seem to get the pasta to conform to the right texture and the meat sauce that I came up with doesn't look anything like what fine restaurants like those in St. Louis create. I guess that's why they cook and I eat and that's the way it needs to stay. Very nice to see a St. Louis, Missouri place get the recognition they deserve on a national list like this.
