Guys, look. I know it's getting to be Springtime. That means a lot of March and April showers, but it also means warmer weather. And it puts us all in the mood to get out there and have some fun!The thing is, though... how do you do that without taking some PTO, sneaking out, or annoying the heck out of your boss?  Simple.  Do your civic duty, and you'll be golden.

Here's what's up. There will be a blood drive with the Community Blood Center Friday (March 8th) from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street (in the Education Center Classrooms).

Community Blood Center is the primary supplier of blood and blood components to 70 hospitals in both Kansas and Missouri. Community Blood Center needs to collect 580 units of life-saving blood each day to meet the needs of its hospital partners and patients. The group experiences a shortage in donations during the winter months due to busy holiday schedules and inclement weather.

Donating blood is one of easiest ways to support your community. Your donation will save the life of an individual right here, right now. And it's a very vital way to make a real difference. This blood donation may seem like a small drop in the bucket, but you couldn't be more wrong. Every full utilization is made of nearly every blood donation.

So all you have to do is make an appointment online, and tell your boss about it now.  That way nobody will be surprised and think you're lying or faking it by telling someone about this Friday at lunchtime. Make sure to emphasize how important it is to the community, and how it'll be such a positive look for an employee of your company to be out there, helping!

Donating blood is quick, easy and pain free. You can be in and out in less than 60 minutes.  Bam, there it is - donate blood, and then you'll be encouraged to have a sit, a little snack and a drink, and then you're supposed to take it easy for the rest of the day.  Which surely means you can't work, right?  I mean, it's your health.  And you did just do a major solid by helping out... surely they can just see you on Monday, right?  Right.

Now, real quick, before you do that, double check the req's. You must be 16 years of age (with parental consent) to donate blood and weigh a minimum of 115 lbs. At the age of 17, you can donate on your own without parental consent. You can donate whole blood every 56 days. Platelets can be donated every 14 days.

Follow the link I gave you and set up an appointment, and you can thank me later.

Donatingly yours,
Behka
