JoCo Fire Responds to House Fire in Leeton
Two family pets perished in a residential structure fire Tuesday morning in Leeton.
Attentive neighbors reported smoke coming from the residence shortly after 9 a.m. July 2.
The residents were not home at the time of fire.
Personnel arrived to find heavy fire conditions and initiated an aggressive fire attack.
The residence sustained substantial heat and smoke damage throughout. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction. The residents were provided assistance from the American Red Cross.

Three JCFPD stations responded to extinguish the fire. The excessive heat and humidity provided an additional challenge for fire personnel, who received assistance in rehabilitating from the Johnson County Volunteer Fire Auxiliary.
No firefighters were injured.
