A Lenexa, Kansas man died after he drove his 18-wheeler in front of a train in Harrisonville Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 66-year-old Michael K. Samani of Lenexa, Kansas, was the driver of an eastbound 2013 Kenworth on Anaconda Road at North Clearwater Drive in Harrisonville around 1 p.m., when he attempted to cross in front of a northbound General Motors SD-40-2 Train.

Samani's Kenworth was struck by the train, and the truck then struck a fixed object, overturned and caught fire.

Samani was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Examiner Jim Helton at 1:14 p.m. The body was taken to Forensic Medical in KCK.

No one on the train, including Engineer James S. Hulsey of Nevada, Mo., was injured.

Harrisonville Police and Cass County Deputies assisted the nine Troopers on scene.
