
Man Found Dead at Scene of Field Fire In Johnson County
One male was found deceased at a natural cover fire Wednesday afternoon northeast of Warrensburg.
Johnson County Fire Protection District personnel responded to a report of a field fire at 353 NE Highway V in rural Johnson County at approximately 2:35 p.m.
While extinguishing the natural cover fire, the male was found deceased.
A 1998 Honda ATV that appeared to have been involved in a crash was also located in the area. The deceased was identified as Don W. Zink, 72, of Warrensburg, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner’s Office.

The ATV struck a tree in a field. After impact, the ATV caught on fire, according to the Patrol.
Zink was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m., by Johnson County Deputy Coroner Noah Harness.
The body was taken to Phillips-Sweeney & Holdren Funeral Home.
There were a total of three Troopers on scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Johnson County Coroner’s Office investigated the incident.
