Care Connection for Aging Services will present a 'Medicare 101' workshop in Sedalia on October 12.

According to a press release from Care Connection, the session is free and open to the public.

The workshop is geared toward people who are new to Medicare and contemplating whether to retire, or to continue working. Participants can learn about benefits, premiums, deductibles, and co-payments, as well as the differences in Parts A, B, C, and D of the Medicare system.

Care Connection says the presentation will have information about how to find extra help to pay for prescriptions and medical care. Additionally, the workshop addresses prescription drug plans, supplemental insurance, and Medicare Advantage plans. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

Participants in the workshop are encouraged to have lunch at the senior center. People 60 and older may dine for a contribution and younger folks may have lunch for the full cost of the meal. Reservations may be made calling, 1-800-748-7826.

The presentation will take place at the Sedalia Senior Center, beginning at noon. The Sedalia Senior Center is located at 312 S. Washington Ave.

Care Connection noted that further information from U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill’s office on Social Security and its website, will be available.

Another presentation will take place later in the month, on October 19, at the Warsaw Senior Center/Harbor Village, located at 17571 N. Dam Access Road.
