Tuesday is the big election to decide whether or not Sedalia will build a community center. If you need a lift to the polls to cast your vote, two area car dealers are offering free rides. Both Bryant Motors and W-K Chevrolet Buick have volunteered to provide free rides to voters that need a lift to the polls.

If you need a ride you can schedule one by calling Sedalia Parks and Rec 660-826-4930.

Elections are decided by the people who show up. I'm paraphrasing a line from "The West Wing" but a quick google search actually attributes the quote to political scientist Larry Sabato.

In Sedalia, there's very strong feelings on whether or not the issues being decided in this election should pass or fail. A community center hangs in the balance. If you have a vested interest in the election, or strong feelings on the issues at hand, then make sure you show up at the polls. Every vote counts. And I think this election will be close.

Remember this for future elections too. Even when you think your vote won't sway the election... you never know how your vote will impact your community, our state, or our country.

Polling places for the special election on Tuesday are as follows:

  • 1st WARD Convention Hall
    3rd & Park
  • 2nd WARD First Baptist Church
    222 East 6th Street
  • 3rd WARD New Hope Baptist Church

  • 4th WARD Celebration Center
    First United Methodist Church
