Neosho Man Drowns in Elk River
A Neosho man drowned Sunday evening on the Elk River in McDonald County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Matthew D. Frazier of Neosho entered the river to retrieve a boat paddle and got swept downstream, was overcome with exhaustion and drowned around 6:20 p.m., one-half mile south of Ginger Blue (southwest corner of Missouri).
Frazier was pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m. Monday by McDonald County Assistant Coroner Jonathan Fletcher. The body was taken to Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson.
This was Troop D's fourth drowning in 2022.
