S-C Baseball Alum Plymell Earns Academic All-American Status
Smith-Cotton Tigers Baseball alum Chase Plymell, a pitcher for the University of Central Missouri Mules baseball team, recently was named a 2020-21 Division II Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Plymell, who graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 2016, was one of just three Division II pitchers to receive first-team honors. Plymell posted a 4.00 GPA while earning his graduate degree in sports management.
Fellow Mules Scott Wolverton, a catcher, and infielder Dusty Stroup were second-team honorees. Wolverton posted a 3.87 GPA as an agricultural science major while Stroup carried a 3.31 GPA while majoring in Marketing.
UCM outfielder Micah Evans earned third-team Academic All-America honors. He is a mathematics major with a 3.60 GPA.
