I can't imagine being homeless, but I'm sure it's not a pleasant experience.  And being homeless during a cold Missouri winter? That's got to be worse with the cold just seeping into your bones and not a lot of opportunities to warm up. Well the Sedalia Salvation Army is giving all of us an opportunity to help the homeless stay a little warmer this winter.

The Salvation Army has set a blanket and canned food drive for Friday January 22 at the CVS Pharmacy, 100 E Broadway Boulevard, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM CST. They're looking for area residents to donate new or gently used clean blankets and non perishable food items to help the homeless and those in need in our area.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, the Sedalia Salvation Army noted they needed canned goods for their food pantry. In addition to the food drive, you can drop off canned goods at The Salvation Army, 1200 E Broadway, Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM CST.

If you've ever worked a job where you've had to work mainly outside in the cold or the snow. Then you know being out in the elements can be a challenge. And that's with the knowledge that at some point you can get in a warm car and drive yourself to a warm home. Imagine being outside in the cold, and not knowing when or where you can warm yourself up. On top of that you might not know where you're next meal is coming from.

Help the Sedalia Salvation Army keep those who are homeless a little warmer. And those who need a little help feeding their family fed. Donate to their blanket and food drive on January 22.
