Sedalia Fourth of July Celebration Includes Parade, Food, Music & Games
The 11th annual Sedalia Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4 at Centennial Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be free food, games and music from Full Moon Band at the park. Organizer Terry Cockrell said he served over 1,700 hot dogs at the 2016 event. Local elected officials took part in helping serve the hundreds who showed up last year, Cockrell noted.
Preceding the event at the park will be a parade in downtown Sedalia starting at 10 a.m. There were 60 entries last year, and Cockrell expects to see at least that many this year. There is no entry fee for the parade. Call 826-5000, ext. 922 to sign up for the parade.
New this year will be a Little Miss and Mr. Fourth of July contest at Convention Hall in Liberty Park starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 28.
There will be three age divisions: Teeny (2-4), Tiny (5-6), and Miss (10-13). Entry fee is $20 and the registration deadline is June 23 for that event. Call Sedalia Parks and Rec at (660) 826-4930 or visit www.sedaliaparks.com for more information.
