Around 12:45 this afternoon (July 27), the Sedalia Fire Department responded to a downed power line at 3rd and Lafayette. Part of the downtown area lost power as a result of the downed line, including Sedalia's city hall.

According to Battalion Fire Chief Paul Withers, the Sedalia Fire Department responded to the area in case of a fire due to the dry conditions, but there were only sparks from the power line at the scene.  KCP&L has been notified about the downed power line.

At 1:15 this (Friday)afternoon, city hall was still on emergency generator power. KSIS will continue to monitor the situation and keep our listeners informed on the progress.
