A Sedalia woman was killed and two others injured in a three-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday evening in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 1990 Ford, driven by a 16-year-old male juvenile from Sedalia, was traveling behind a westbound 2013 Toyota, driven by a 16-year-old juvenile from Sedalia, when the Toyota slowed down to yield to an oncoming eastbound 2007 Saturn, driven by 33-year-old Christina M. Rice of Sedalia, at a narrow bridge on 32nd Street, one-third mile east of Rissler Road, just before 6 p.m. The Ford attempted to avoid the Toyota and swerved into the oncoming lane, striking the Toyota on the driver's side and striking the Saturn head-on. The Saturn traveled off the roadway and struck a ditch. The Ford overturned, coming to rest in the roadway on its wheels.

Rice,who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report, was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center by PCAD, where she later died of her injuries. She was pronounced dead at 7:03 p.m. by Dr. Braverman.

A 13-year-old female in the Saturn suffered serious injuries and was flown to University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia for treatment. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The 16-year-old male in the Ford suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

The Toyota had minor damage, while the Ford and Saturn were totaled.

Pettis County Deputies assisted the three Troopers on scene.
