Edwards' last day on the job will be Sept. 22. He accepted a City Management position in Aransas Pass, Texas, located on the Gulf shore.

Shaw has served as City Finance Director since Sept. 2014. He replaced Pam Burlingame, who retired from the position.

KSIS caught up with Shaw at the Governors' Ham Breakfast on Thursday at the Missouri State Fairgrounds and asked him about his new job.

"I'm looking forward it. It's a great challenge for me, and of course Gary has done a great job for the City, and we're sorry to see him go, but he's left the City on good shape," Shaw said.

"All I'm going to try and do is keep things going until we can get his replacement in, and of course I'll help him or her get their feet on the ground and go back to my finance director duties " Shaw noted.

The City said it may be early 2018 before a replacement for Edwards is found.

A city administrator is effectively the CEO, coordinating all the department activities and being the chief cheerleader for economic development issues for the city, Shaw explained.
