Dr. Matt Teeter, Superintendent of Smithton Public Schools, has been named as the new Superintendent of Schools in Willard, Missouri, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.

According to a press release from Willard Public Schools, Dr. Teeter was selected from 38 applicants to replace Dr. Kent Medlin, who is retiring at the end of the school year after 14 years in Willard.

"My family and I feel extremely blessed to be moving to the Willard School District," said Dr. Teeter. "I am humbled and honored to serve the students, staff and patrons of this premiere district. The reputation of the Willard district is well known throughout our state for its excellent culture, academics, and many other exceptional extra-curricular activities."

Dr. Teeter began his career in Mexico, Missouri in 2003 as a junior high teacher and coach. He was an assistant middle school principal in the Parkhill and Jefferson City school districts, and spent four years as a middle school principal at Smithville Public Schools. He has also been an adjunct instructor in education at Willaim Woods University since 2009, and has been with Smithton Public Schools since 2015.

Dr. Teeter's first day of work in the Willard School District will be July 1.
