The River and Prairie Storyweavers (RAPS) will hold its 25th Annual Chicken Festival in Sedalia, January 12-14.

The Chicken Festival described as a combination storytelling festival and storyteller retreat. Between 40 and 50 storytellers attend the Chicken Festival each year to develop storytelling skills, practice new story ideas, and tell stories.

As part of the mission to support the art of storytelling, RAPS partners with local schools and libraries to arrange private and public storytelling shows. Local and regional storytellers go into schools, libraries, senior centers/nursing homes, and other community locations to entertain and educate.

RAPS will host a benefit storytelling concert for Open Door Service Center, Benevolent Ministries Food Pantry, located at 111 W. 6th Street, in Sedalia, on Saturday, January 13, 2018. and from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Heckart Performing Arts Center, located at 2010 Tiger Pride Blvd.

The price of entry for this family-friendly entertainment is one canned good or non-perishable food item or a bottle of shampoo per family.
