Pettis County Sheriff's deputies now have Timothy Smith in custody, according to Det. Dave Keller. Smith was wanted in connection with a series of gunshots that occurred early May 22 in the area of Seventh and Moniteau in Sedalia.

28-year-old Jordan D. Rhodes and 28-year-old John D. Yager were arrested shortly after the incident, which began around 1:30 a.m. on a Sunday, but Smith remained at large for two weeks after the shooting.

According to Sedalia Police, officers on patrol in the area of West 7th and South Moniteau Avenue heard a gunshot around 1:30 a.m. on May 22. Three additional shots were heard a short time later. Upon investigating, a vehicle was seen fleeing from the area.

Officers gave chase and the suspect vehicle turned into an alley in the 700 block of South Missouri Avenue. Officers approached the vehicle, and then heard three more gunshots coming from the vehicle. Officers then pursued the vehicle through Sedalia and into the West City Limits, into the county.

A male passenger jumped from the vehicle near Oak Grove Lane. He was taken into custody. The driver abandoned the vehicle a short-time later and fled on foot. A female passenger was also located near the vehicle and arrested as well. A shotgun was found inside the vehicle but the driver had fled the area.

During the pursuit, a man had entered a business near West Broadway and South Kentucky. He told an employee he had just been shot at. Another call to dispatch, around the same time, revealed a vehicle had been shot, as well, in the 600 block of West Broadway. An investigation revealed the same weapon was involved in both shooting incidents.

Det. Keller said that more information on the circumstances of his arrest would be forthcoming later today.
