Traffic Stop For Expired Tags Leads to Driver’s Arrest
On Monday, Aug. 9 around 5:30 p.m., while on patrol near 16th and Kentucky, a Pettis County Deputy observed a white 2007 Ford Fusion with expired tags.
A traffic stop was conducted at 1100 South Osage and the Deputy made contact with the white female driver.
She told the Deputy her license was inside the residence and that she was driving her son's vehicle. The Deputy informed her the vehicle only had one plate, and there was no front plate.
A computer check revealed that the plate belonged to a different vehicle out of Independence. The driver was identified as 64-year-old Brenda K. Jones. She was found to be driving while suspended.
Jones was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released with a citation and a court date of Oct. 13.
