Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Johnson County Tuesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2009 Nissan Rogue, driven by 64-year-old Renita R. Wallace of Knob Noster, was on US 50, west of Highway AA, and came to a stop over a hill crest around 1 p.m., when an unknown vehicle swerved to avoid hitting the Nissan, and the Nissan was struck in the rear by a westbound 2017 Peterbilt, driven by 39-year-old Max E. Horner of Mound City, Kansas.

Wallace and her passenger, 37-year-old Dustin B. Young, both suffered serious injuries, and were transported to Centerpoint Hospital by JCAD for treatment. It was unknown if either were wearing a seat belt.

The Peterbilt had extensive damage, while the Nissan was totaled.
