Two Injured, One Ejected in JoCo Crash
Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday night in Johnson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by 48-year-old Melissa A. Alston of Knob Notser, was on Marr Drive near Maguire Street just past 11:30 p.m., when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a culvert and the passenger, 23-year-old Haley A. Hopper of Stover, was ejected from the Mitsubishi. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.
Alston suffered minor injuries and refused treatment on scene, while Hopper suffered serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Research Medical Center.
The Mitsubishi was totaled and towed by Tip Top Towing.
Warrensburg Police assisted the Patrol.
Alston was later arrested by the Patrol. She now faces charges of felony driving while intoxicated, no insurance and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Alston was taken to the Johnson County Jail, where she was booked and released.
