Three Lincoln Residents Injured in Highway 52 Crash
Three Lincoln residents were injured in a two-vehicle Pettis County crash when the driver of the other vehicle fell asleep.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2003 Toyota, driven by 21-year-old Cheyenne L. Morris of Sedalia, was at 12413 Highway 52 at 4:15 p.m. Sunday when the driver fell asleep.
The vehicle crossed the center line. An eastbound 2007 Chevrolet truck, driven by 30-year-old Nathan A. Gifford of Lincoln, attempted to avoid a collision with the Toyota, but struck it. The Chevy was also occupied by Katrina Gifford and a minor child.
Nathan and Katrina Gifford and a 12-year-old juvenile, both from Lincoln, suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Golden Valley Hospital for treatment. All involved were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
Morris was later arrested at 4:58 p.m. and charged with DWI-drugs, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.
