Two Odessa Women Injured After Train Strikes Vehicle
Two Odessa women were injured after their vehicle was struck by a train Tuesday afternoon in Lafayette County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2002 Ford driven by 74-year-old Carol J. Waters of Odessa, failed to yield to a 2011 General Electric locomotive driven by 52-year-old Curtis E. Harper of Higginsville at Gammon Road, south of Blue Book Road, at 4:43 p.m.
The report stated that the Ford was impacted in the left rear quarter panel by the train at the crossing. The train then came to a controlled stop on the tracks.
Waters and her passenger, 72-year-old Linda K. Buis of Odessa, suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Centerpoint Hospital for medical treatment. Both were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Ford was totaled.
Lafayette County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
