Early Morning Fire Reported at Tyson Foods
Pettis County Fire Firefighters responded to Tyson Foods, 19571 Whitfield Road near Dresden, that broke out early Tuesday morning.
The fire reportedly broke out during second shift at Tyson’s on the east side of the facility.
According to Pettis County Fire Chief Mike Harding, a call was received at 3 a.m., regarding a commercial structure on fire.
As units were responding, they received an update, saying that fire had penetrated the roof, with flames showing.
Upon arrival, Pettis County Fire personnel discovered that the ventilation exhaust from one of the cookers had fire coming from it. At that point, ladders were set up to allow firefighters to access the roof and extinguish the blaze.
The chief said that an interior attack team was sent inside the plant as well.
The fire was brought under control in less than an hour, Harding said.
A total of 33 firefighters were on scene with 14 apparatus responding.
No injuries were reported by firefighters or Tyson employees.
Pettis County Fire remained on scene for another two hours to ensure the fire was completely out, for a total of about four hours on scene, Chief Harding said.
