A truck driver from Warrensburg escaped serious injuries after his 18-wheeler overturned on I-70 Thursday.

89-year-old Frank R. Hamer of Warrensburg was the driver of a westbound 1996 Freightliner on I-70 at the 53 mile marker in Lafayette County at 1:45 p.m., when the vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway and overturned.

Hamer, who suffered minor injuries, was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported, and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Concordia EMS.

The Freightliner was totaled and towed from the scene.
