At approximately 7:49 a.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western Johnson County.

Primary threats with the storm were noted to be high wind gust as well as large hail and frequent lightening.

Shortly after the storm cell moved through the Holden area reports of damage, power outage and downed lines were being received. Emergency crews and utility personnel responded to multiple calls of service.

Emergency Management dispatched a crew of two personnel to the Holden area to assist as needed and perform damage assessments.

Holden Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Johnson County EMA assisted a resident of Holden whose vehicle was completely destroyed and home moderately damaged due to a downed tree. The American Red Cross is now assisting the residents of the home.

Multiple areas of the county were without power, including Leeton, Chilhowee and Holden.
