A Lee's Summit woman was injured after the car she was driving slammed into the rear of another vehicle on US Highway 50 Monday afternoon in Johnson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Mallory P. Kroencke of Lee's Summit was the driver of an eastbound 2011 Ford Focus on US 50 at NW 1251 Road at 2:40 p.m., when she failed to slow down for traffic and struck the rear of an eastbound 1989 Ford F-150, driven by 28-year-old Logan T. Long of Pleasant Hill.

Kroenke suffered serious injuries, and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles were totaled.
