Afternoon Sedalia Police Crime Reports For March 5, 2015

Sedalia Police and Pettis County Children’s Division investigating sexual assault cases

According to a Sedalia Police  report in February the department received reports of two possible sexual assaults that took place in Sedalia from the Pettis County Children’s Division. One of the reports dated the 10th of February states  a possible sexual assault took place in the 100 block of East Chestnut 8 or 9 years ago. The second report from the children’s division was received by the Sedalia Police Department on the 25th of February, and referred to a possible sexual assault involving a child that took place in the 1000 block of East 7th. Both cases are under investigation by both agencies.

Sedalia woman arrested Wednesday afternoon for stealing and resisting arrest

At 4:31 Wednesday afternoon Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Dollar General Store at 713 East Broadway on a theft complaint. Upon arrival the manager told the officers a suspect had concealed items, then left the store without paying for them. The manager also told the police the suspect had gotten into a vehicle near Wood’s Express. The suspect identified as 24-year-old Toni J. Kelzer of Sedalia was located inside Wood’s Express according to the police report. Upon being informed that she was under arrest the report states she resisted arrest, and was taken to the ground and handcuffed. Kelzer than began to kick and move around the floor and was placed in a wrap. At the time of the police report Kelzer was on 24-hour hold pending formal charges of stealing, and resisting arrest.

Traffic stop Wednesday afternoon results in arrest for a Sedalia woman

Around 2:17 Wednesday afternoon Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle at Broadway and Harrison for speeding. Upon contact with the driver, 21-year-old Carson LA. Meyer of Sedalia she was found to have a Pettis County warrant for failure to appear. Bond on the warrant was set at $1000 cash or surety.

Vandals spray paint the door of a downtown business overnight

The owner of a business located in the 100 block of South Ohio filed a property damage complaint with the Sedalia Police at 10:18 this (Thursday) morning. According to the complainant someone spray paited the rear door of the building sometime overnight. There were no suspects.

Sedalia Automotive at 2101 reported the theft of a spare tire and rim from a vehicle on the lot. Value of the tire and rim was placed at $585. There were no suspects at news time.

At 8:16 Wednesday morning Superior Auto at 620 West Main reported a hit and run near their business.
