Police Department receives information on a sex abuse case from Iowa

According to a Sedalia Police report the department received a call from “Child Protection Services” in Iowa on Thursday regarding a sex abuse case. According to the report a worker in Iowa told the officers two female juveniles have disclosed that they had been sexually abused over a 10-year period some of which took place in Sedalia. The case is under investigation at this time.

Neighbor hears a woman scream, and police find a man holding a woman to the floor

Just after 10pm Monday night Sedalia Police received a call on a disturbance at a residence in the 700 block of east 9th. Upon arrival the caller told officers she had heard a woman scream next door. The report states officers looked in the door, and saw a male subject holding a female down to the floor. The officers entered the residence and arrested 32-year-old Michael Anthony Baez of Sedalia and took him to the Pettis County jail, where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges of domestic assault 2nd degree.

Suspect with a Pettis County Warrant arrested Monday morning

Around 11am Monday morning Sedalia Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of west 16th on a suspect with a warrant. Upon arrival officers made contact with the suspect, 28-year-old Zachary M. Nicholson of Sedalia. Following confirmation of the warrant Nicholson was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail pending $3500 bond.

Traffic stop results in arrest for a 31-year-old Sedalia man Monday night

At 11:10pm Monday night Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 10th and Limit, for no license plate light. A check through dispatch on the driver, 31-year-old Anthony B. Johnson of Sedalia revealed he did not have an operator’s license. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail where he was also found to be in possession of marijuana. At the time 0of the police report Johnson was on 24-hour hold pending formal charges of possession of a contraband substance in a jail facility, and operating a vehicle without an operator’s license.

39-year-old Sedalia man arrested for driving while revoked Monday night

At 9:12 Monday night 39-year-old William Darcell Balance of Sedalia was arrested on a charge of driving while revoked. At the time of the police report he was in the Pettis County Jail pending formal charges.

Thefts and property damage complaints

Around 6:40 Monday morning a complainant with Strait Line Construction reported someone had damaged construction equipment, and also stole construction equipment. The equipment was in the area of Broadway and Hancock at the time of the thefts according to the complainant. There was no estimate on the cost of repairs to the stolen equipment, or the value of the stolen items.

Just before 2pm Monday afternoon a victim in the 200 block of east Saline reported her air condition was stolen sometime over the past two-weeks. The victim estimated replacement costs at $3000.

A window was reportedly broken at a residence in the 1500 block of south Kentucky around 4:30 Monday afternoon.
