August Shootings Update From SPD
The Sedalia Police Department announced an update to the shootings that occurred during the month of August.
The following is a synopsis of the shootings:
On 08/02/2020, at approximately 0440 hrs, Officers responded to Lamine/Morgan in reference to a shooting and a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers located shell casings and identified one individual with a gunshot wound who was treated and released from a local medical facility.
• On 08/03/2020, at approximately 144 3hrs, Officers responded to Saline/Albright in reference to a shooting, no injuries were reported.
• On 08/03/2020, at approximately 1644 hrs, Officers responded to the 400 blk of N Prospect Ave in reference to a shooting, no injuries were reported.
• On 08/11/2020, at approximately 2011 hrs, Officers responded to the area of Broadway/Wagner in reference to a shooting, no injuries were reported.
On 08/15/2020, Pettis County Crime Stoppers requested assistance from the public regarding a series of shootings which had occurred in Sedalia over the past few days.
On 08/16/2020, 21 year old Keshawn J. Flowers of Sedalia was arrested on drugs and weapon charges and then on 08/21/2020 a warrant was issued for felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action for his part in these shootings. Keshawn is being held at the Pettis County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
On 08/14/2020, 22 year old Zechariah Hoskins Ellis was issued a $75,000 warrant for two counts of felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Armed Criminal Action for his part in these shootings.
On 09/28/2020 Mr. Ellis was arrested on his warrant by MSHP and is being held in the Cooper County Jail on additional drug and weapons charges. Based on information obtained during the investigation and the arrest, SPD investigators served a search warrant at 2405 Golf Drive in Sedalia, locating evidence and a vehicle reportedly used in some of the shootings.
The Sedalia Police Department will work diligently on all violent crimes that happen in our jurisdiction. This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. Through the course of investigating these cases, several additional arrests have been made which have led to removing guns, drugs, and violent individuals with active arrest warrants from the streets of our community as well as an increase in directed patrol in the areas associated with the individuals suspected of these crimes.
