Barnett Woman Killed When Horse-Drawn Buggy is Hit
A Barnett woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision that occurred Monday afternoon in Morgan County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a horse-drawn buggy, driven by 51-year-old John A. Leinbach of Barnett, was westbound on Route C, 1562 feet east of Ringwood Road around 1:20 p.m., when a westbound 2016 Jeep Compass, driven by 74-year-old Dorothy J. Griggs of Eldon, struck the rear of the buggy, which then traveled off the right side of the roadway, ejecting both occupants.
John's passenger, 53-year-old Anna M. Leinbach, also of Barnett, was pronounced deceased on scene by Morgan County Coroner Dr. M. B. Jones at 2:16 p.m. The body was taken to Windmill Ridge Funeral Home in California, Mo.
John Leinbach suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
The Jeep had moderate damage, while the buggy was totaled.
There were a total of seven Troopers on scene. This was Troop F's second fatality for July, and the 25th for 2023.
