Benton County Man Injured in One-car Crash

A Benton County crash sent one man to the hospital on Wednesday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Nicholas D. Caldwell of Urich was the driver of a 2001 Dodge on Highway BB, east of Allen Road in Benton County at 6:30 p.m. when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and returned to the roadway, then traveled off the left side and struck a ditch.

Caldwell was wearing a safety device and was reportedly uninjured, but his passenger, 19-year-old Thomas E. Kirk of Urich suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Warsaw EMS to Golden Valley Hospital for medical treatment. Kirk was also wearing a safety device.

The vehicle had extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
