Boonville Man Killed in Cooper County Crash
One Boonville man was killed, and another injured, in a two-vehicle head-on collision that occurred Monday night in Cooper County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2013 Chevy 2500, driven by 46-year-old Richard R. Nichols of Boonville, was on Missouri 5, one-quarter mile south of Smith Street sometime after 9 p.m., when crossed into the southbound lanes of Missouri 5 and struck a southbound 2003 Chevy 1500, driven by 29-year-old Ryan M. Scott of Boonville.
Scott was pronounced dead at the scene by Cooper County Coroner James Hurt at 9:20 p.m.
Nichols suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to University Hospital by Cooper County EMS.
Neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.
Boonville Police and Cooper County Deputies assisted the patrol at the scene.
